Hi Guys!
It’s the weekend, and I went shopping! Half an hour bus ride from my dorm at Nanjing University is a small commodities market (小商品市场, xiǎoshāngpǐn shìchǎng). A small commodities market is a type of market with a bunch of little stores side by side in the same building. It's sort of like a mall but all of the stores are tiny, owned by individual people (not companies) and not very fancy. The prices are usually quite good, and you can bargain for lower prices. You can find 小商品市场 all over China. The 小商品市场 I went to was made up of 2 large buildings, each 3 stories tall. I saw clothes, jewelry, toys, electronics, kitchen supplies, luggage, bags, sewing supplies, and more! They sell everything!
In 8th grade we have a unit on shopping called 小商品市场。 So, when I wasn't shopping I was taking a lot of video that I can share with you when we study that unit. It is one of my favorite units to teach because you learn lots of useful and fun things. At the end of the unit you will have a chance to bring in old unwanted things from home and "sell" them to each other using my toy Chinese money, all while speaking Chinese!
Below is a list of what I bought and what I paid for it:
